When you arrive in Nassau the first thing you will notice is the water. Like the fiery sparkle of a blue diamond, this is liquid crystal-like none other in the world. No wonder people flock to this little island by the thousands.
Next, you will be enveloped by your surroundings. Vendors offering hair-braiding, scooter rentals, and taxi rides will give way to tiny shops lined along the streets. You could literally shop the whole time you are in Nassau. The Straw Market is a few blocks away, filled with hand-woven fans, purses, jewelry and more for sale.
Of course, you can also dine, sightsee and bar hop while you're here. Oh, but those beaches are calling! Can you resist? The urge to get on that pristine sand, to splash out into the cooling water; it's almost more than you can bear, right?
Water is a huge part of the draw of Nassau. Swimming, sunning on the beaches, watching the fish glide through water so clear it looks like they are swimming in the air - there is never a shortage of water-related activities. Your only problem will be deciding how to spend your limited time while you are in Nassau. With only two short days, do you want to lounge in the sand all day or do you want to go snorkeling?
While the options are endless, your time isn't - so choose wisely. One of the best things to do in Nassau is to spend an hour on a fast-paced jet boat tour. Bahamas Jet Boat combines sightseeing, historical commentary, and fun facts, with wet, splashing fun. Hop on board our brand-new jet boat. It was built to meet the highest US maritime standards. Our boat captains have their Commonwealth of the Bahamas Boat Masters license and safety is our top priority.
Our second-most important priority is fun! So get ready to zig-zag through the ocean, and experience heart-pounding twists and turns! Feel the ocean sprays as you dash past Arawak Cay, Paradise Island, downtown Nassau and many other exciting hot spots. Seeing where the skyline meets the Atlantic ocean is nothing short of breathtaking. Raise your hands, laugh and watch the iconic twin towers of Atlantis disappear in the background.
Tours with Bahamas Jet Boat are easy to book. Secure your spot with an online reservation or you can pay in-store. Arrive at least 30-minutes early; we want time to get your life-jackets and supplies ready. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Riders must be at least 48" tall to ride.
After your tour, take time to go and visit some of the sites you spotted from the water. Like, Baha Mar whose brand new infrastructure and many Bahamian artworks on display is a beauty to behold. At this mega-resort take part in the fine shopping, dining and very soon it’s nightlife. Spend a little money (or a lot) in the largest casino in the Caribbean.
Try to make time to visit Atlantis as well; even if you aren't a guest staying at their resort. Tour the grounds. Visit the aquarium. Take in the amazing blown glass art that is on display. If you are a guest at the resort, wrangle your fears behind you and ride the towering water slide that plunges into the shark tank.
And for an open road thrill, you have a variety of scooters to rent so you can zip around the island at your own pace. Of course, pay close attention to the rules of the road. Driving in the Bahamas is much different from any other country. Stop wherever and whenever you like and take pictures with our natural and manmade attractions like the conch shell chair and cave out west right across from a beautiful beach!
These are just some of the places and things to see and do. It is a good idea to be flexible on your agenda because there are plenty of activities that may change your mind. Pack all you can into your two-day visit to Nassau. After all, who needs sleep?
